‘You have to beat Wrexham!’ – Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side sent ‘unfinished business’ warning ahead of Welsh derby with Newport

Wrexham take on local rivals Newport on Saturday in League Two, with County eager to put one over their neighbours. The arrival of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at the club has seen Wrexham promoted to League Two and dreaming of making it all the way to the Premier League. The club's rise also means their rivalry with Newport can be renewed after finally escaping non-league football. Former County defender Mark O'Brien is expecting a hot atmosphere for the game and says fans are desperate to put one over Wrexham after seeing the club become headline news following their takeover.

He told BBC Sport: "There's unfinished business, or something between the two teams. There's a rivalry that's been built up over the years and come Saturday, I think it's going to be a memorable atmosphere.

"People are always saying 'you have to beat Wrexham, you have to beat them'. For what we did in the play-offs and in the FA Cup, I just think it's something where the Wrexham fans always have that little bit against Newport, because Newport have been that successful team."
